Since 2010, Somerset County has been ranked as one of the top three healthiest counties in New Jersey. Healthier Somerset, a coalition created to improve the health and well being of everyone who lives and works in Somerset County, aspires to make Somerset the top-ranked county (the county is currently third healthiest in the state).
The County Health Rankings, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, measure the health of nearly all counties in the nation and ranks them within states. The rankings are designed to improve public health by emphasizing the factors that, if improved, can help make communities healthier.
