After identifying farms willing to donate produce to a local food bank, Healthier Somerset recently formed a collaboration with Duke Farms and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office to deliver fresh produce to the Bound Brook Salvation Army Food Pantry. Through this collaboration, families in Bound Brook and South Bound Brook will have access to healthy foods, which supports overall wellness for everyone.
Since launching “Building Bridges to Health,” a Healthier Somerset program supported by a grant from New Jersey Health Initiatives, our coalition has identified that a lack of access to fresh foods is a health priority. New collaborations and partnerships such as this one with our local law enforcement personnel and farmers is how we are building a Culture of Health and addressing the need for healthy produce in both of these communities.
